The Trauma Center at JRI is proud to announce a ground- breaking conference hosted by two leaders in the field of trauma treatment: Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and Dr. Janina Fisher. This training event will explore biological and psychological bases of trauma and introduces innovation in trauma treatment.

Day One. Frontiers of Trauma Treatment: The Dialogue Between Mind and Brain.

Dr. Bessel van der Kolk will introduce foundations for understanding the impact of acute and chronice traumatic stress exposures on children and adults and review the complexity of adaption to trauma, including the biological, physiological, and neurological impact of trauma exposure and extended trauma response.

Day Two: Frontiers of Trauma Treatment: Working with the Somatic Legacy of Trauma.

Dr. Janina Fisher will address stabilization techniques for complexly traumatized inidividuals, with an emphasis on the regulation of affect and experience, and will provide an overview of physiological and body-based strategies for working with trauma-relatied symptoms.

DATE: Monday and Tuesday, March 17-18, 2007

TIME: 9:30-4:30 p.m.

LOCATION: This training will be held at Cyprian Keyes, 284 East Temple Street, Boylston, MA 01505 (in the Worcester, MA area). The training is easliy accessible from Highway 290 (for directions visit the Cyprian Keyes website) and free parking is available.

CE CREDITS: 11 (5.5 for each day). The Justice Resource Institute (JRI) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education credits for psychologists. Continuing education credits will also be offered for this conference for Massachusetts social workers and licensed mental health counselors. JRI maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
